FOREWORD
Dr. John Parks Trowbridge M.D., FACAM
Environmental Toxicologist
What You Don’t Know, Can Make You Sick,
Even Kill You! Now you will know,
and can do something about it!
In high school, we memorize Shakespeare and learn that “A2 +
B2 = C2” as though these facts will make our lives somehow better or
easier. What’s missing?—Practical, simple, effective ways to deal with
everyday problems: safe, toxin-free products and easy gardening
tricks to raise healthy foods, and simple steps to reduce exposure to
hidden pollution that can make us (and our pets) miserable or even
shorten our lives.
Are you sure that you’re safe? In my professional medical experience,
many people are suffering with, and dying from degenerative
and autoimmune diseases, because they are slowly poisoned by pollution
generated by our 20th century lifestyle. Thousands of new chemicals
are made each year. Hundreds of these find their way into
products we contact or use in some way, and almost none have been
studied for safety—not for us, nor our pets, livestock, or wildlife.
We’re swimming in a sea of chemicals and heavy metals that are
awash in our own homes and gardens. Puzzling and distressing physical
and mental complaints, discomforts and unexpected symptoms
can often be traced to acute or chronic exposures in the home and
garden.
Toxic pollution is carried inside the home on our clothing and
skin, or it’s trekked inside on footwear from our gardens, lawns, garages
and garden sheds from where we keep and use chemical poisons and
pesticides. Such toxins can cause acute or chronic insidious health
problems. A partial list includes: heart disease, high blood pressure,
stroke, gangrene, nervous system ailments, brain fog, digestive and
reproductive disorders, asthma, lung diseases, skin rashes, liver and kidney
failure, and a plethora of autoimmune defense system failures and
diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue, multiple
sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and various forms of cancer. Such bodily
contamination also allows viruses, yeast, bacteria, and parasite infections
to take root and eventually destroy our comfort and well-being.
The tragedy is that most medical professionals aren’t well educated
regarding these risks and their prevention. Unfortunately,
most of the serious facts and concerns that Tui Rose R.N. reveals in
Chapter Eleven, regard alarming health dangers related to chemical
pesticides in and around our homes and gardens. These are still not
taught in many medical schools for physicians and nurses!
Modern medical practices are not routinely equipped to observe,
suspect, diagnose, and treat the common illnesses and discomforts
resulting from pollution and poisons from synthetic chemical home
and garden products that damage our body biochemistry.
As an Environmental Toxicologist and treatment specialist of degenerative
autoimmune diseases for over two dozen years, I have extensively
and effectively treated such serious illnesses caused by pollution
and toxic heavy metals. I know that it’s more prudent to take heed in
preventing toxic chemical exposure and minimizing these illnesses for
yourself and your family, and it is much cheaper, easier, safer and smarter.
It certainly rewards you with better health, happiness and more energy—
not to mention the possibility of enjoying a longer life.
This welcomed natural gardening reference guide will still be
useful on your kitchen shelf, or in your home library for decades.
Putting it to constant everyday practical use will help ensure you and
your children, grandchildren and pets will all inherit good health and
happy lives.
Tui Rose takes multiple serious health concerns and questions
that should cross our minds (but often don’t) and shares easy solutions
that make sense and save dollars. Much needed light is thrown
on dark toxins that linger on our storage shelves and pollute our
homes and gardens, which should be our safe havens. However, most
of the population (including the majority of the medical profession
itself) is very naive, mistaken, or even unknowingly living and playing
with danger.
Tui Rose makes the reader acutely aware of both the short and
long-term dangers in which we live, play and sleep every day. But rest
assured, following the hundreds of helpful hints and solutions in this
book, will remedy what lies in our own control before it has a chance
to debilitate and devastate our health.
Looking for a great gift for a wedding or anniversary? For graduation?
For a birthday? For yourself?
I enthusiastically believe that Tui Rose’s Green, Healthy & Thrifty
Gardening Helpful Hints should be in every home, especially
if you suspect that happiness is easier when you’re healthy, and that
better health comes from daily choices in life—not from living a toxic
life requiring prescription drugs that can, at best, serve as band aids
for pollution exposures that remain undiagnosed and untreated.
